Behavioral Health Log - New Entry
This video walks you through the Behavioral Health Log feature, integrated into the existing Health Log tool. Learn how to create a new Behavioral Health Log entry alongside General health Log entries using the SOAP note format.
00:03: Well, hi. I'm Phil from the DocNetwork Training Team. 00:06: In this video, we're going to show you our brand new behavioral health 00:10: log module, which is integrated directly into our existing 00:14: health log system. This feature allows you to log 00:18: behavioral health log entries, right alongside general health 00:22: log entries, maintaining our SOAP note format. By having both the behavioral 00:27: and general health log in one place, this ensures a more comprehensive and 00:31: holistic set of features enabling organizations to deliver more well-rounded 00:36: care for the whole child. Before we dive in, 00:38: it's important to point out that providers need to have the right permissions and role 00:42: set up in order to access the behavioral health log. 00:46: Typically it's more likely that those who need access to the behavioral health 00:50: log entries, won't need access to the general health log and 00:54: the inverse is true as well. That being said, whatever your organization's 00:58: unique setup, you can control those permissions in settings, 01:02: general, and then permissions. 01:05: So let's go ahead and jump in. First create a new health log entry. 01:10: Navigate to the health log, and select new entry. 01:15: Click the new button to create a new entry. 01:18: Second, you're going to want to choose your entry type. 01:22: When creating a new entry, you'll be prompted to choose between General log 01:27: or behavioral log. Simply select behavioral log. 01:31: If you're logging these type of encounters, then you'll begin to complete your 01:35: behavioral health log. Once you've chosen Behavioral Health, you 01:39: can start entering the participants details. 01:42: We'll enter the participant info in the participant box, type, 01:46: the participants name and select it from a list. Then the date and time. 01:50: If needed, you can change the date and time of the entry or load a saved template 01:55: for faster, documentation. Similar to how templates are created and 01:59: used within the General Health logs, the same is true for the behavioral health 02:02: log. In this example, we'll continue to move forward without 02:06: utilizing a template. Next, you'll want to add details from the menu on 02:11: the right hand side. You can enhance the entry by adding more fields. 02:15: These fields include subjective; which includes items such 02:19: as chief complaint, location, and history. Objective; 02:25: which contains: mood, affect, and cognitive functioning. 02:30: As you see here, when you select an option on the right, it appears in your log on the 02:34: left. Each option offers you a specific pick list 02:38: of options. These options were created by experts in the Behavioral Health 02:42: Community. Additionally, it's worth pointing out that 02:46: some of these pick lists, give you the ability to select multiple options. 02:52: However, when it comes to the assessment and plan options, some of those limit 02:56: you to one selection. Moving on from the objective section, we come 03:00: to the assessment and plan. Here in the assessment and plan, 03:04: This is the final documented step, as the previous sections inform 03:08: this stage. It's the assessment plan stage that helps providers to 03:13: summarize and communicate next steps for the participant. 03:16: This should be used as the final input for this phase. 03:20: These assessments include: Suicidal Risk 03:22: Assessment, Homicidal Risk Assessment, Self-Injurious Behavior 03:27: Assessment, Abuse and Neglect Risk Assessment, 03:31: A Bullying Risk Assessment, as well as having the assessment plan and 03:35: provider selections locked. 03:37: You can select the follow-up field to note a date and time that the participant needs 03:41: to be followed up with. You can also attach documents or upload related 03:46: notes. Whether that's simply an image of a paper record 03:49: you need to keep and attach or similar related documents as appropriate. 03:53: Your log automatically saves as you type, 03:56: so don't worry about losing your work. 03:58: You can always come back to edit or finish your entry later. 04:01: If you have a draft those in red, if you were the provider who created 04:05: that entry, you can later go back and complete it or even delete it assuming it's 04:09: still in draft mode. Additionally, similar to the General Health log, 04:13: you still have the ability to link visits, add addendums or review entries. 04:18: Once you've created your health log, click submit to finalize the 04:22: entry. If you'd like to immediately start another entry, simply 04:27: click submit new, or if you need to discard your work, you can select delete 04:31: draft to remove the entry. Well that's it. 04:34: You've successfully completed a behavioral health log entry and with 04:38: that you can now track your behavioral and General Health log data 04:42: all in one module and this will ensure comprehensive care for 04:46: all of your participants. Thanks for watching. 04:49: And as always, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
